.. Who We Are
The International Jazz Day AZ Foundation is an Arizona-based nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting music teachers and sustaining music education, especially in communities affected by school closures and underfunding.
Founded and led by jazz musician, educator, and community leader William “Doc” Jones, the Foundation uses jazz as both a cultural platform and a practical solution—combining education, community engagement, and world-class jazz festivals to generate sustainable resources for teachers and student programs.
When schools close and music programs are reduced or eliminated, we step in to support educators through paid after-school and community-based instruction, helping them continue teaching the students they are committed to serving.
Through partnerships, events, and global alignment with UNESCO’s International Jazz Day, we work to ensure that music education remains accessible, teachers are supported, and students stay connected to creativity, culture, and opportunity.
